This Jersey Heritage property is a unique boat-shaped seaside folly, built in the 1930's, uniquely positioned with direct access to the beautiful beach of St Ouen's Bay. A central sitting room welcomes you as you enter. There are two bedrooms a kitchen and a bathroom. The rooms have been restored to their pre-war style and ooze with character but the property now benefits from all modern conveniences. Wooden shutters keep the building cool on sunny days and double doors open out to a west facing paved area which is ideal for al-fresco dining and soaking up the wonderful views across the whole of St Ouen's Bay.
The property is accessed by several low steps but internally is on one level. It is adjacent to the sea wall which has steps down to the beach. The Barge Aground will sleep two couples or a family of four very comfortably, but can take up to six making use of the double bed settee in the lounge. It is the perfect location for access to the beach (via steps) where you will find cafes and restaurants and beach sports such as surfing, kite surfing, boogie boarding, blow carting, kayaking and skim boarding along the three mile stretch of sand. It is also conveniently located near to the wetland area of St Ouen's Pond and unspoilt dune areas, perfect for bird watchers and walkers. There is a challenging 18-hole public golf course in the bay where there is a popular restaurant and bar.
